FLASHBACK: CHAMPIONSHIP 1982

25.09.2022

Back in September 1982 Dinamo-Minsk was fighting for leadership in the USSR football championship. On September 19, the team played on the road with "Kuban" from Krasnadar. The home match in May ended in a draw.

On September 19, Dinamo had the following squad: Viarheenka, Barouski, Shyshkin, Yanusheuski, Trukhan, Prakapenka, Hotsmanau (Bialou, 86), Pudyshau, Zyhmantovich (Rumbutsis, 53), Hurynovich, Kandratsieu.

Dinamo-Minsk launched wide attacks from the very beginning of the match started in the center of the field by Pudyshau and Prakapenka. Hotsmanau was entrusted with the role of the striler. However, in the first half and the home team fought back. Before the break, both goals were the result of goalkeeping errors. First, the goalkeeper of "Kuban" Balakhnin did not keep the ball after a long-range strike by Prakapenka. The fastest at the ball was Kandratsieu, who opened the score. But the home team evened the score under a rather curious circumstance. Viarheenka acted very carelessly, putting the ball into play. Ploshnik took possession of the ball and coolly sent it to the goal.

The numbers on the scoreboard did not confuse either one or the other team. Very soon, Minsk delivered a corner free-kick which ended with an excellent shot by Prakapenka. But the ball flew close to the post. The hosts could score right after but this time Viarheenka played well saving the ball after a close-range header from Ploshnik.

At the beginning of the second half, the hosts had two excellent opportunities to hit the target. But in the first case, Viarheenka played perfectly, and in the second, Kobzeu missed from the goalkeeper's line. Dinamo in their usual manner raised the pace of the game. On the 57th minute, Hurynovich completed the header after Prakapenka's cross from the flank. Once again rushing forward, Dinamo got the right to a corner free-kick. And again, Kandratsieu was the first on the ball and pushed in into the goal. Two goals within 2 minutes set the final result in the match. The home team continued to fight, but their attacks lost the sharpness.

Dinamo topped the standings again. Dynamo Tbilisi lost to an outsider - Kutaisi Torpedo with a score of 0:1.

There was another away match - with Shakhtar Donetsk.
