YURY MALEEU: FRIENDLY MATCHES AND READINESS FOR IMPORTANT MATCHES OF THE SEASON

30.07.2022

Today FC "Dinamo-BSUPC" has finished the program of test matches with FC CSKA (Moscow, Russia). The result of the first match - 2:3, in the second match our girls won - 1:0. After the match, the press service talked with the head coach of the women's team - Yury Maleeu.

How do you evaluate our girls based on the results of 2 matches with CSKA?

I am very pleased with these two matches. I am grateful to the CSKA team for coming to us. I think that we had two very high-quality games, two very high-quality matches. And it was Champions League-level matches. In such games you see all your advantages and disadvantages. The disadvantage, of course, do not give me rest, they need to be corrected. We still played almost without our legionnaires, without four players from the main team: these are our three girls who played at the Africa Cup, plus Nastsia Shuppo, who has not recovered yet. In general, I am certainly pleased with our girls in confronting one of the leaders of women's football in Russia.

What worked especially well? And what were the main difficulties? What aspects would you like to strengthen based on the results of these two matches?

The aggressiveness that CSKA showed in the first 15 minutes of the first half was a shock for us. But this aggressiveness, the ability to put pressure, to quickly get close, to cover, not to let rise head - this is the level of European football, these are the trends of modern football. The England team, the German team are a good example. This is where we got a little frustrated. And then the girls came to their senses, managed to take the ball under control, restored interactions on the field. I would especially mark the second half of the first match, where we had a lot of good attacks, team game, good combinations. But somewhere we were not lucky and did not score. Yes, we still don't know how to play as aggressively as other teams do. Just because it's new to us. But our undeniable advantage is a team game.

According to the opponent, does the level of the women's championship differ from the Russian one?

The level of resistance and the level of aggressiveness - in our championship it is cannot be compared to Russia. This is the main distinguishing feature. Everything else - I would not say that it is very different. I compare with our team, of course. Another difference is that in Russia in the entire championship matches are played with a gap of one or two, maximum four goals. So there is a higher level of resistance.

What is the immediate task set by the coaching staff for the team?

Now we have an important task - restoration. And we need to accumulate emotions and strength before the Cup final, which is already on August 6th.

Less than a month remains before the first qualifying round of the Champions League. Did you manage to collect information about the upcoming opponent? If yes, is it necessary to change something in the tactics of our team?

We have information about the first opponent - the Bulgarian Lokomotiv. We will analyze strengths and weaknesses of the team. We will not break anything in the training process. We will work in a one-time training mode per day. Perhaps a couple of times there will be two-time workouts. We will focus on individual actions, on individual play in a position. Naturally, we will not forget about team interaction: this applies to both defense and attack.
