    Byelorussian SSR Cup tournament has been holding from 1936 to 1991. "Dinamo-Minsk" twice in its history became the owner of this cup: in the distant 1936 and 1940.

On August 28, our team played a guest match against Zenit. For the first time in that season 51,000 spectators visited the stadium S.M. Kirova. The match was of particular interest. In the first half of the season the teams played a goalless draw.

Dinamo linep: Viarheenka, Barouski, Kurnenin, Yanusheuski, Trukhan, Zyhmantovich (Vasileuski, 87), Melnikau (Bialou, 86), Pudyshau, Aleinikau, Hurynovich, Kandratsieu.

Zenith actively started the match. But this was not surprising. Each team considers it an honor to beat the leader. In the 11th minute, after Melnikau's pass, a goal could have been scored against Dinamo, but the ball flew a little higher. After securing several sharp attacks of the home team, Dinamo started to threaten the goals of Zenit . Fast attacks of "Dinamo" were led by Hurinovich, Aleinikau, Zyhmantovich. But in all cases, the ball flew wide the goals or the goalkeeper of Zenith Nikolaev was very good. At the end of the half, only the goalkeeper's wonderful reaction saved the Zenit from a goal after a gross mistake by the defenders.

Immediately after the beginning of the second half, the Leningraders with the whole team rushed to storm the goals of the leader. Twice the ball only miraculously did not visit the net. But everything changed in the 53rd minute. Hurynovich received the ball in the penalty area and with an accurate blow in the fall literally from under the defender's foot scored the ball with his head. The second goal was especially offensive for the Zenit. During the Dinamo attack, the Leningrad defender unsuccessfully gave the ball to his goalkeeper. Hurinovich immediately took advantage of this moment and scored his second goal in this match and the ninth in the championship.

Even with two balls in reserve, Dinamo did not give up the active game. Leningraders tried to carry out counterattacks. But before the final whistle the score remained unchanged - 0:2.

Leadership in the championship remained with Dinamo. However, the high density at the top of the standings did not allow to relax. Ahead was the match against CSKA from Moscow.
