FLASHBACK: CHAMPIONSHIP 1982

On August 16, 1982, our team met away with Chernomorets from Odessa. In the first round, the match ended with the victory of Dinamo with a score of 2:1.

Dinamo lineup: Viarheenka, Shyshkin (Zyhmantovich, 46), Kurnenin, Yanusheuski, Trukhan, Aleinikau, Hotsmanau, Pudyshau, Kandratsieu, Hurynovich, Vasileuski (Bialou, 83). Barouski was called up to the national team and did not take part in this match.

The game started with a little reconnaissance. But after a few minutes the home team seized the initiative. However, every time Minsk managed to repel the attack. Several times Shariy dangerously broke through to the goals. But each time he was stopped by the defenders of Dinamo. In response, Hotsmanau and Hurynovich dangerously struck at the goals of Chernomorets. Also ater Kurnenin's strongest blow the ball hit the crossbar.

Chernomorets increased speed and began to hit Viarheenka's goal from afar. On the 38th minute, Pokonin unexpectedly intercepted the ball sent by Pudyshau to his partner, and found himself alone in the penalty area of Dinamo-​​Minsk. The goal seemed inevitable, but the midfielder from Odessa sent the ball close to the post.

Four minutes later, Chernomorets was awarded with a free-kick 20 meters away from the goals of Dinamo. Our team erected a massive wall, but Pokonin bypassed it, sending the ball under the crossbar with a twisted shot - 1:0.

After the break, Dinamo rushed to recoup. But for some reason they were limited only to crosses to the opponent's penalty area. The offense was bogged down in the defense of Chernomorets, and the counterattacks of the Odessa were sharp and dangerous. Dinamo managed to seize the initiative only 15 minutes before the end of the match. There were also dangerous moments, but Kondratsieu shot wide from eight meters, and the ball after Zyhmantovich's strike fell directly into the hands of the goalkeeper. None of the attacks was crowned with a return goal.

The result of the match - 1:0. This defeat of Dinamo allowed the main competitors of our team - Dynamo Tbilisi and Ararat - to close the gap with the leader.
